Very quickly you’ve become a Hallmark “regular” and much-loved star. Of the movies you’ve made so far, which character did you best identify with and why? What do you most like about being part of the Hallmark family?

Thank you! I most related to Nikki Turner in A Dash of Love, because I love to cook and bake, plus I’m clumsy and often use my humor to deflate tense situations. I love the stories Hallmark Channel tells, and the strong and kind characters they create. And let’s be honest, we could all use a little more kindness and positivity in today’s world.

What projects do you have coming up?

I have several movies coming out in the next year. The Duplicate, a psychological thriller in which I play twins; Off the Menu, a rom-com that will premiere at TIFF; Snatched, a thriller in which I play a pregnant hipster with a psychotic doctor; and another fun rom-com called The Wedding Do Over, in which I get to exercise my physical comedy chops as a bride whose wedding is an absolute disaster. I’m also recording a pop album with the legendary Adrian Gurvitz at the moment. (Note: Jen was recently in Lifetime’s Mommy, I Didn’t Do It starring Hallmark’s Danica McKellar).

Jen Lilley doesn’t just play a mom in her new Hallmark Channel movie “Harvest Love” (premiering Sept. 30 at 9/8C), she recently became a foster parent in real life because of her passion for children in the most vulnerable circumstances. It’s a passion grounded in her upbringing, her love of God, and her empathy for devastated young people who’ve been victims of abuse, child pornography, and human trafficking.

In “Harvest Love,” Lilley plays Luna Gilson, a young surgeon and mother whose husband died a couple of years ago (and who is played in pictures by Lilley’s very-much-alive real husband, Jason). As a result, Luna throws herself into her work to forget about the pain, but winds up neglecting her son Andy.

After one particularly frazzling day at work, Luna takes her mother’s suggestion to visit the family farm for a few days to rebuild her bond with Andy. Once there, they meet Will, the farmhand played by Ryan Paevey, with whom Luna winds up butting heads. But in traditional romantic comedy fashion, they eventually fall in love.

Lilley appreciates Luna as a character because “she’s not just this fleeting young girl that is carried away by her emotions. She’s thinking with the right perspective…[The romance] is done so tactfully with an awareness of her husband who died…She gives herself permission to fall in love, and Andy has a father figure restored to him.”

As a Christian, Lilley enjoys doing movies for the Hallmark Channel (this is her third) because they’re “so uplifting.” But sometimes she’ll take an edgier role if she feels that’s what God is calling her to do. Jonathan Jackson, her former co-star on “General Hospital,” helped her define that approach by telling her, “When I’m deciding what roles to do, I always ask myself, ‘Is this doing more good than harm? Then I go from there.”

Now that it’s officially fall, it’s time for Hallmark Channel’s Fall Harvest festival to begin and soap fans will not want to miss the new original Harvest Love which stars GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Jen Lilley (ex-Maxie) and Ryan Paevey (Nathan)! The romantic new movie premieres Saturday, Sept. 30, at 9 p.m. on Hallmark and Lilley offered up a preview with some backstage secrets in a special Facebook Live chat!

Lilley is best known to daytime fans for her run as Theresa Donovan on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, but she did fill in for a year as Maxie on GH. Unfortunately, while the character did end up marrying Nathan, Lilley and Paevey never actually worked together on the soap because Kirsten Storms returned to the role just before her new leading man joined the show! “So it was fate,” Lilley joked. “It’s great working with a soap actor because we’re always prepared and we always know our lines and we’re kind of not thrown by anything because we’re used to only doing one take.”

In Harvest Love, Lilley plays Luna Gilson, a young woman mourning the death of her husband (eagle-eyed viewers will notice that photos of Luna’s late hubby are actually of Lilley’s real-life spouse, Jason Wayne) who takes her son, Andy, to the family’s pear farm where she meets Paevey’s Will Nash, the farmhand who helps her open her heart again. “It was actually an apple orchard,” the actress reveals of the location where they shot the film. “So we had to put pears on all of the trees.

The movie’s star also revealed a surprising backstage secret about shooting on location! “It was funny shooting outside because I’m actually EpiPen-level allergic to grass,” Lilley confessed with a laugh. “So I had the medic, Laura, she brought me like, four Claritin a day and she was standing by with an oxygen tank and EpiPens, and we made magic happen, so it was great!”

Lilley insisted that viewers will absolutely love Harvest Love because it’s so uplifting. “I think there’s so much tension going on in our world right now that it’s nice to be able to sit down and watch a movie and know that you’re going to experience something uplifting. I love that.” Oh, and also, Paevey does something fans have never seen before! “Ryan Paevey does not dance,” Lilley chuckled. But Christie Will Wolf, the amazing director, and I, got Ryan to dance in the movie, so you should definitely watch just for that!” (Source)
