Very quickly you’ve become a Hallmark “regular” and much-loved star. Of the movies you’ve made so far, which character did you best identify with and why? What do you most like about being part of the Hallmark family?

Thank you! I most related to Nikki Turner in A Dash of Love, because I love to cook and bake, plus I’m clumsy and often use my humor to deflate tense situations. I love the stories Hallmark Channel tells, and the strong and kind characters they create. And let’s be honest, we could all use a little more kindness and positivity in today’s world.

What projects do you have coming up?

I have several movies coming out in the next year. The Duplicate, a psychological thriller in which I play twins; Off the Menu, a rom-com that will premiere at TIFF; Snatched, a thriller in which I play a pregnant hipster with a psychotic doctor; and another fun rom-com called The Wedding Do Over, in which I get to exercise my physical comedy chops as a bride whose wedding is an absolute disaster. I’m also recording a pop album with the legendary Adrian Gurvitz at the moment. (Note: Jen was recently in Lifetime’s Mommy, I Didn’t Do It starring Hallmark’s Danica McKellar).

RH: What inspired you to become an actress?

JL: The shortest answer I can give you is my faith in Jesus. I never planned on becoming an actress. I had thought about it as a kid, but no more or less than any other child. In college, I auditioned for a film on a whim, booked the female lead, and fell in love with the cast and crew. I figured it was just a fun experience, but the Lord began speaking to me about it. I’m not afraid to share my faith, and more importantly than that, I’m not afraid of what the church thinks of me. God alone is my judge. I don’t have to boast about what I’ve done or how pure I am. That’s worthless. What really matters is loving people because Jesus loves people. I have no problem hanging out with people who have completely different, or even opposing ideals than me. Especially if I can help lessen the pain they’ve encountered from a bad experience in church. And please don’t misunderstand. There are SO many WONDERFUL churches out there that are so legitimate, and loving, who are following after God’s own heart. My church is like that. I go to C3, Los Angeles. There are C3’s all over the globe, and they’re the real deal. But that’s what acting came down to for me. Studying people, telling stories that will make people laugh or cathartically deal with loss and loving people with abandon.

Daytime fan-favorite Jen Lilley (ex-Theresa, DAYS OF OUR LIVES; ex-Maxie, GENERAL HOSPITAL) is starring in a romantic new movie just in time for Valentine’s Day — A Dash of Love, airing on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 9 p.m. ET on Hallmark Channel!

Lilley plays Nikki Turner, an aspiring chef who accepts a job at a prominent restaurant run by one of her idols, Holly Hansen, played by Peri Gilpin. “She’s brilliant and lovely and amazing and beautiful,” Lilley enthuses to Soaps In Depth. “It was so awesome working with her.”

Of course, things become complicated when she begins falling for the head chef, played by Brendan Penny. And that’s not to mention the fact that Holly is secretly stealing Nikki’s recipes to pass off as her own! “It’s so cute, and it’s so me,” Lilley says of the movie. “I totally get this character! I was laughing the whole time reading it, and thinking, ‘This character is me.’”

A chef herself, Lilley admits she loved baking for everybody on the DAYS set and is a huge fan of Valentine’s Day. “It’s my favorite holiday of all time, probably even more than Christmas,” she confesses. “When I was at DAYS, I would get every single cast and crew member personalized chocolates!”

The actress believes that soap fans will absolutely love this romantic confection. “Everything about this movie is amazing,” Lilley declares. “The fans are gonna love it. It’s very funny. I really hope Hallmark hires me again because I really like working for them already, and I love Hallmark movies.” (Source)
