FAVORITE holiday tradition…having Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve BUT I light a bunch of candles in the livingroom, then hubby, son and myself watch Christmas Vacation while we eat…then we top it off with Alastair Sim’s b+w version of SCROOGE..ahhh, there is nothing better, then hubby and I wait until our son, who is almost 20, goes to bed so we can bring out his presents..lol..yes we still do that.

On Christmas eve we we always have a family dinner which includes all of our family about 60 people in all . We are doing it early this year cause my uncle found out he only has about 3 weeks to live . So we are having it early so he can be there.

I make sure first thing in the mornings, Christmas eve and day, my kids, hubby and I count our blessings. We have a yummy homemade breakfast, and on christmas day we see a movie and eat lunch there too. We spend a lot of time with family and drink, eat and be merry. My kids always decorate a ginger bread house!! I also make sure we donate food to our local food bank, ensuring we are aware of our blessings and to be blessings for others in need.

Our favorite family Christmas tradition is many….baking Christmas treats to share with our friends, but our most favorite is when we decorate our tree my four children love to find “their” ornaments to place on the tree. Since they were born each year I would give them an ornament as a gift and write their name and the year on it. My oldest is now 17 and my youngest 11. It’s something they can continue and also gives them a start to their own ornaments for their tree.

My boys are 3 and 1,so we started a new one this year. I wrapped 24 books and each night until Christmas they open one before bed and my husband and I read it to them. They pick one out together and open it together. They absolutely love it, and so do we!

I have a lot of great traditions in my family, but I think my favorite is this: My daughter and I both wear our footy pajamas to bed. In the morning, I make her wait to come down the stairs until I have the video camera ready. I then proceed to record that moment and her unwrapping her presents. We then have breakfast together, still in our footy pajamas. Unfortunately, my video camera batteries died & are no longer available. Otherwise, I think I would do this until the end of my days. BTW, she is now 19.

My favorite holiday tradition is our families thankful tree. On thanksgiving after our feast every year we place our hand painted ornaments on the tree and say what we are most thankful for that year. Everyone loves big and small. I stole that tradition from Alice Horton with the ornaments.
